I need to take more photos of some of the revisions, but hopefully you can get a good feel for what's been done so far.

Kitchen

The kitchen needs tons of work. You'll notice there's a little room off the kitchen. That's where the sink is, as well as some cabinets and shelves. I'm thinking of possibly adding a window where the shelves are. I'd move the sink to where that big window is currently (This window has been replaced. You can see pictures at the bottom of the page). I could make that room a breakfast nook, and possibly have a sliding door to a deck outside. who knows. Its a huge kitchen, and I think it'll look great if I come up with enough funds for the renovation.

I have the plans from IKEA. They aren't exactly right. The wall with the fridge is actually longer than 44 inches, so everything will fit. We're going with "Akurum Land" with butcherblock countertops. You can check them out if you want:

this is the window that looks onto the neighbor's big pile of crap. I want to shorten it and move the sink there.

these were all experiments in moving the fridge around. It'll probably move again once a design is in place. The door has since been reversed, by the way.

Color Change and Floor Removal

I've been doing a ton of work on the house recently, and so I haven't had time to update these pages in a while. I resurfaced the walls in the kitchen, trying to hide the major cracks (the ceiling still has a bunch of lines in it, but it can wait), and then primed and painted. I'm currently tearing up the floor. There was a layer of sheet vinyl, glued to a layer of plywood, stapled to a layer of linoleum tile, glued to hardwood. A hardwood guy is going to look at it and see if the floor can be salvaged. If not, I'm going to have him put bamboo flooring over the douglas fir. That brown patch is a spot on the wall that was covered by a big piece of metal. I'm assuming it was a grease splash guard or something.

New Floor

couple of scratches in the old douglas fir (and a mysterious amoeba shape, but otherwise it looks pretty good

New Cabinets!!!

Finally it looks like a kitchen. I'm still not done... some detail work has to be completed. But it is a whole lot better these days....
